When the Rain Finally Listened
It has been raining heavily for the past two days. Not the kind of rain that comes in bursts and pauses, but the sort that pours endlessly, as if the skies had forgotten how to stop. Today was no different—throughout the day, the rain didn’t give us even a moment’s relief.
I had some work to do outside, but every time I stepped out to check, the rain was still relentless. Once, twice, thrice—I kept going out, only to return disappointed. The thought came to me: If I keep waiting for the rain to stop, perhaps it won’t stop at all—not this evening, not even tonight.
Finally, around 5 in the evening, I decided not to wait anymore. The rain had softened into a drizzle, so I put on my jacket, wore my helmet, and got ready to face it. The moment I moved out, something unusual happened. The rain that had been stubborn since last night began to calm down, and eventually—it stopped altogether.
Around 7 pm, I got back. No sooner than I reached, it started raining again. Almost as if the skies had been holding back only until I returned.
It may not sound like a miracle, but it felt unusual, almost as though the rain was testing my patience, waiting for me to take the first step. For two days, it hadn’t paused even for a while, and yet, when I finally decided to stop waiting and move ahead, it gave way.
Sometimes, moments like this stay with us, not because they are grand, but because they quietly remind us of how life works in its own mysterious ways. And even now, as I write this, it is raining again.
In life too, we often wait—wait for the right time, the right opportunity, the perfect conditions. But sometimes, nothing changes until we make the move.
The storm doesn’t always end before we step out. Sometimes, it ends because we step out.
So if you’re waiting endlessly for life to get easier, lighter, or calmer—maybe it’s time to stop waiting and start moving. Who knows, the storm you fear may vanish the moment you take your first step.

Author’s Note:
Life often surprises us in the smallest ways. This evening’s rain was just weather to some, but for me, it was a gentle reminder that sometimes, we only need the courage to step out—and the world makes way.
