When the Sky Remembers to Pour

Why I wanted to write on this topic… The reason is, it has been raining endlessly, for what feels like forever.

Today, I was talking with one of my friends, and I mentioned this odd “behavior” of the sky and the rain. I told him how I’ve noticed the rain doesn’t just fall randomly—it seems to have a habit, a preferred timing. And as we laughed about it, I realized it was worth writing down.

Because strangely enough, the rain doesn’t come at all hours of the day. More often than not, it starts after 3 or 4 pm, as if the clouds have fixed working hours. It almost feels like the sky has set an alarm: “Wake up, it’s time to pour.”

And that’s the irony. We humans live tied to alarms—wake-up calls, meeting reminders, deadline alerts. Some of us even need alarms to remind us to take a break. Yet, when the rain keeps to a schedule, we dismiss it as coincidence. Without gadgets, without calendars, the sky seems to keep better time than we do.

And the timing—it couldn’t be more precise. Just when the day begins to fade, the sun starts packing up, and we’re longing for a pause, the drizzle begins. It doesn’t ask permission. It simply pours, uninvited, but perfectly timed, as if it knows we need that interruption.

Of course, we complain. The muddy roads, the dripping umbrellas, the evening traffic jam that turns into a crawl. But we overlook something important—the rain is punctual, disciplined, and consistent. Unlike us, it doesn’t hit snooze.

Perhaps that’s the quiet humor of nature. While we wrestle with schedules and alarms, the sky casually reminds us that rhythm doesn’t need to be forced. It just is.

So the next time the sky remembers to pour, right on schedule, maybe we should close the clock, take a breath, and let it rain on us. Perhaps, some may hate it, but remember some may be eagerly waiting for the rain to pour.
